Early Life and Career

Horatio Nelson was born on September 29, 1758, in Burnham Thorpe, Norfolk, England. He entered the Royal Navy at the age of 12 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a captain at the age of 20. Nelson's early exploits included fighting in the American Revolutionary War and defeating a French fleet in the Battle of Cape St. Vincent in 1797.

Legacy of a Hero

Nelson's greatest moment came at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, where he led the British fleet to victory over the combined French and Spanish fleets. During the battle, Nelson was fatally wounded and died on October 21, 1805. Nelson's victory at Trafalgar saved England from invasion and cemented his status as a national hero.
