Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023 Results Declared
Ashok Gehlot Set to Return as Chief Minister
Congress Emerges Victorious Despite Internal Turmoil
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has released the detailed results of the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly Election. The Congress party has emerged victorious, securing a majority of seats in the 200-member legislative assembly.
Incumbent Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is set to return for a third term after leading the Congress to a narrow victory. The party won 108 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came a close second with 90 seats. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) won 3 and 4 seats, respectively.
The election was marked by intense political maneuvering and high-stakes campaigns. The Congress, despite facing internal divisions, managed to overcome the challenge posed by the BJP, which had predicted a decisive win. The result has come as a surprise to many political pundits, who had expected a BJP sweep given the party's strong performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The victory is a significant boost for the Congress, which has been struggling to maintain its grip on power in the face of growing opposition from the BJP. It also provides a glimmer of hope for the party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
