Early Life and College Career
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, born May 11, 1999, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, began his football journey at Catholic High School. As a standout running back, he led his team to two state championships and earned recognition as a four-star recruit. In 2017, he committed to Louisiana State University (LSU). At LSU, Edwards-Helaire quickly made an impact, rushing for 1,414 yards and 16 touchdowns in his freshman season. He was named SEC Freshman of the Year and earned consensus All-American honors. In 2019, he had another impressive season, rushing for 1,367 yards and 14 touchdowns, helping LSU win the College Football Playoff National Championship.
Professional Career
After his standout college career, Edwards-Helaire was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs with the 32nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he showed flashes of his potential, rushing for 803 yards and 4 touchdowns while also contributing in the passing game.
